Creada en 1922 para abrigar la principal Bolsa de Café y Mercancías del mundo (Santos, a la época, era la mayor plaza cafeeira del planeta), el edificio, con cerca de 6 mil m², es considerado uno de los más bellos de la ciudad. La construcción monumental, con más de 200 puertas y ventanas, abriga, desde 1998, el Museo del Café, donde se encuentra una cafeteria, punto de encuentro de quien trabaja en el Centro Histórico y visita obligatoria para los turistas. La grandiosa Sala de los Pregones ha en el techo el vitral ‘La visión de Anhanguera’, de autoría de Benedicto Calixto. Tres inmensos paneles del mismo pintor adornan la pared del fondo: el mayor, central, tiene 153 figuras, representando la elevación de Santos a la categoría de vila, ensueño, con la parte real clara y el sueño del progreso en el futuro, borroso. Los paneles laterales, menores, muestran la concepción del artista sobre el paisaje de Santos en 1822 y 1922.
