Description
This is a double breasted Knights Templar uniform frock coat. The double breasted variants are not commonly found as they were used by higher ranking members only.
The uniform is dated 1904 with a tailor label to William Vanderhurst, who was a Past Grand Commander in 1893 and Grand High Priest in 1889 in the Watsonville, California #22 Commandery.
It is constructed from a very high quality wool material but has clearly been used as the collar is worn along the top edge.
Many of the buttons have the fabric covering worn and the cuff ends of the sleeves appear to have been altered.
One interior sleeve lining needs minor restitching at the top.
Despite all this, it is a uniform of know provenance and displays well.
Your reasonable offers will be given sincere consideration.
Thank you.
